When looking at the work of Imogen Stidworthy’s as with, I hate an audio visual piece that centres on language, we see that her works deal with the somatic and social impact of the spoken word. ‘She looks at how the use of language affects communication between people… her stratified instillations centring on language and combining a variety of media such as film, video and audio’ (muhka. 2008: DIE LUCKY BUSH , I hate. 2007 was a video installation created for Documenta 12, the work focuses on Edward Woodman a British photographer who as the result of a cycling accident suffered aphasia and with the aid of a speech therapist had to learn to speak again.
