The History behind the art.
Intro:
This essay will be looking at the differences between Theodore Garmen and Jacob Epstein’s work in relationship to the sculpture Bob and Roberta Smith created. As well as aspects of the research/archive at the Walsall Gallery that Bob Smith would have considered during his residency at the gallery that made him feel obligated to create this piece of work. Focusing on Theo’s letters and books in addition to his own work and looking at the differences in the aesthetic and composition of Theo and Epstein’s work. Coupled with  different characteristics which Bob and Roberta Smith used to create the Theodore sculpture and how he endeavoured to reflect Theo’s personality within it.
