Where I'm at, update.

So I've decided on my idea for my second life new direction and now I'm looking at possible materials and techniques.
The idea is to create a large scale replica of a camera film (a), which a large role of either canvas or high grade paper will come out from and feed into a large scale replica of an old style sound reel (b).

Materials, for the film case I was looking at using plywood as it is flexible and cheap, but also it means I don't lose time with soaking or using a steam box. as can be seen in fig (c), it is the my best option. when it comes to the sound reel I've had the idea of hand carving the reel as this is something I've not done in a long time and although I have looked at other options like metal and creating a cast and using resin this is the idea that i am most drawn to. The problem I'm having at the moment however is getting the wood as I would need a piece of soft wood like Jelatong at least 14inches square and 14inches deep, I have spoken the the technician and they have given me some numbers to contact as they are unable to supply what I need. so I have emailed some of the timber merchants and just waiting to hear back.
