Turner prize 2011
Watched the Turner Prize yesterday and was pleased that Martin Boyce won as it was an amazing piece, thought that George Shaw's was fantastic to but new he wouldn't win as when was the last time a painter won. but then that's one of the reasons I don't usualy take any notice of the Turner Prize as it is not to do with talent but controversy, not that thee is anything wrong with that, as that in my opinion is what art is all about. But in this instance it is not the right kind of controversy and nothing to do with talent or power of the message, but how much notice the prize can get. Saying that however, there was not much to be said about that this years short listed as there where no real messages. So I ask the question why was this years Turner Prize so mellow and safe?
But then victory for another Scottish artist is always good.
